HIV/AIDS Pre- and Post-Test Counseling Training Session at Mother of Mercy Hospital

In response to the rising health challenges in Nuba, we recently launched a critical training program to address the growing impact of HIV/AIDS on both the host community and the increasing number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the region. Through a collaborative effort with the Secretariat of Health, Nuba Mountains, and Mother of Mercy Hospital, we hosted a workshop that successfully trained five skilled health professionals. These dedicated individuals will lead our HIV/AIDS testing and education initiatives, empowering our organization to make a more profound impact on the region’s health.

For a long time, the remote communities of Nuba have faced severe resource constraints, grappling with limited healthcare access while enduring difficult living conditions. With over 300 displaced individuals arriving each day, our local resources are stretched to the breaking point, creating new challenges for already marginalized communities. Many of the displaced people, escaping turmoil and violence, are unaware of the health risks associated with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B, leading to an increased risk of transmission. By training health professionals to provide essential testing and educational support, we are taking a critical step to address these pressing issues and prevent further disease spread among both the IDPs and the local population.
This program is more than a single initiative—it is a collaborative community effort. Tackling the HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B crisis requires sustained engagement and support from multiple stakeholders. This is why we are reaching out to our existing partners and to those with a heart for humanitarian work. Your support can make a real difference in allowing us to expand our health initiatives, strengthen our community outreach, and provide the necessary resources to effectively serve both the displaced and local residents.

Each trained professional represents a beacon of hope, capable of reaching countless individuals in the community with lifesaving health services and knowledge. However, for this program to succeed in the long term, we need ongoing commitment and investment from partners who share our vision for a healthier, more resilient Nuba.
We invite you to join us in this vital cause, contributing to a community-led initiative that seeks to protect and uplift every person affected by the health challenges in our region. Together, we can work to create a sustainable impact, providing the tools and support needed to combat the spread of disease and bring hope to those in need.
